For your next summer holiday in Mallorca

Mallorca summer holiday airport transfers

Located between Valldemossa and Port Soller, Cala Deià is the beach of the town of Deià, situated on Mallorca's ragged and largely inaccessible western coast. In fact it is one of the few beaches on this side of the island, etched right into the rocks of the Tramuntana mountain range.

This is not the kind of beach where you will find long extensions of white sand and palm trees. Nor are there a wealth of beach facilities, there are none; no showers, no sun loungers and no sand. Cala Deià is however a rugged and virgin paradise with crystal clear water, pine forests and not a parasol in site.

Certainly worth visiting, the village is perched neatly on a peak at 499 m above sea level, pebbled and car free, with a total resident population of 2025 people.

The village real estate is highly sought after and prices are high. Not least because of the famous local residents who have lived in the area. Michael Douglas' estate S'Estaca is currently on the market to the tune of $62million.

Banyalbufar

For your next summer holiday in Mallorca

Mallorca summer holiday airport transfers

Banyalbufar was founded as a Moorish settlement in the 10th century, and it was during this Arabic period that the vast and impressive water network was built. By creating a sophisticated water system of dry stone walls, water basins and an elaborate aqueduct, they were able to reclaim working land and irrigate the remote mountain hillside.

These outstanding constructions in dry stone, the cultural heritage and symbiosis between man and nature in this remote and steep part of the Serra de Tramuntana resulted in a mesmerising terraced landscape which was awarded protection by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site.

Porto Petro

For your next summer holiday in Mallorca

Mallorca summer holiday airport transfers

Porto Petro is a small and charmingly pretty fishing village, flanked by hills, in the Municipal district of Santanyí, in the very south eastern corner of the island of Mallorca.

A marked lack of sandy beaches has kept mass tourism from the town and ensured Portopetro's distinct and authentic character has been left largely untouched. Its beautiful rocky cove and fishing harbour have remained as they always have been, a working marina bobbing with traditional vessels and a coast lined with white washed villas and a few simple eateries and cafes.

For your next summer holiday in Mallorca

Mallorca summer holiday airport transfers

You will see the twin outcrops from the road way before you spot the town or the sigh for Alaró from the Palma motorway, and as you veer closer the castle comes into view. The sheer cliff edges with drops of 800m make for an impressive sight.

Small and well conserved, Alaró is a pretty sandstone village with a shady main square, narrow streets and a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. It is also the last village in the plains before the foothills become proper mountains and has become popular as a cycling base, as well as hiking, trekking and rambling, bird watching and sight seeing.

Pollensa Old Town

For your next summer holiday in Mallorca

Mallorca summer holiday airport transfers

Pollensa is one of those unusual places that catch you unaware, one day you are nonchalantly sipping coffee in the Plaza Mayor and the next you want to stay forever.

Perfectly located, in a dip in the valley, between the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains and the vast and serene Bay of Pollensa, the old town of Pollensa is a beautifully preserved, Mediterranean village, home to an eclectic mix of locals and foreign residents, remote enough to feel exclusive and accessible enough to visit on a day out.
